Job Summary:

The Director, reporting to the Senior Vice President, NARS International Marketing & Business Development, oversees all aspects of NARS International Marketing including calendars, launch strategies, media, distribution, pricing, forecasting support and VM planning with special focus on NARS Asia (excluding Australia and India). The Director’s key responsibility will be to manage the relationship with NARS Regional Asia team as well as 2nd BH representative for China and Travel Retail as the lead marketing contact in the New York office. Through strategic vision, strong partnership and clear communication, the Director will help ensure that business priorities are met and that markets have what they need to drive the business with strong 360˚ marketing activations. This position will also help ensure that markets follow brand guidelines locally to build global brand image consistency, strong brand equity and outstanding business results.

This position will require strong communication skills, attention to detail, a high sensitivity to timeline management and must be able to foster effective relationships with internal and external partners.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

NARS Asia Contact

  • Manage communications and relationships between NARS global teams, the Asia Regional team and NARS 2nd BH representative for China and TR, running weekly meetings that bring together all the key stakeholders, create action plans and follow-up on plans to meet deliverables. Participate in recurrent meetings with top Asia markets.
  • Regularly and timely share updated calendars, launch plans, assets and forecast guidelines and update global stakeholders on regional and markets’ feedback and needs.
  • Define International Collateral strategy to support regional GWP and TOA needs (briefing process, conceptual alignment, markets usage strategy)
  • Present International Asia strategy updates at Regional and Global conferences as needed

Launch Calendars

  • Collaborate with Asia respectively, define the marketing strategy, align launch calendars (including VM and Lightbox cadence) among key Asian markets. Prepare launch briefs and work with the global teams to deliver 360 launch support and assets.
  • Identify region-specific needs and align priorities with the NARS global team, ensuring focus on both skin beauty (complexion) and lip categories

Global Communications/Digital/.com

  • Support the Global Communications & Asia teams with any PR and Digital initiatives
  • Send feedback to markets on media priorities, media plans and requests in partnership with Global Media team
  • Maximize Asia EC business with key partners like Tmall, JD.com, Douyin, Lazada, Kakao etc - by partnering with local, regional and Global Marketing stakeholders to build a robust launch and promo calendar that optimizes key festivals and gifting moments (i.e. LNY, Women’s Day, 5.20, 6.18 and 11.11, Black Friday).
  • Ensure 360 activations planned to capitalize on assortment, exclusive offers, collateral, KOL activity and live streaming sessions

Creative

  • Approve event concepts and liaise with Global Marketing, VM & Creative on major consumers and/or PR events
  • Review and approve all creative requests from Asian markets, facilitate their timely execution by close collaboration with Creative and Project Management teams.
  • Local asset creation for social and EC: review markets proposals with Global team for concept approval and creative direction on mood boards or storyboards, talent, wardrobe and styling, photo direction of the assets and input on CDJ.

Visual Merchandising

  • Collaborate with the Asia Regional team as well as China and TRA to brief visual merchandising requests, facilitate support for new door openings and events
  • Strategically oversee and request updates for seasonal VM configurations in open sell and Department store environments, tester unit displays

Forecasting

  • Review Aia markets product and POSM forecasts and liaise with Operations team to ensure timely forecasting for all launches
  • Review ongoing base business forecasts across Asia and ensure demand fluctuations have solid business reasoning
  • Define assortment for different distribution channels; identify Asia assortment white spots based on market trends and markets requests for product development.
  • Oversee launch and POS forecast guidelines; approve launch forecast guidelines for all product launches, across all retail channels ensuring that markets have a full toolkit to support and maximize the new launch process

Pricing

  • Partner with Asia regional team, China and TR teams to define market pricing for all price increases and new product launches
  • Perform pricing analysis on key categories / across key markets
  • Review and approve price promotions proposals in partnership with SVP

Analysis

  • Analyze NARS performance, market performance and competitor activity in Asia & share best practices and insights with the Regional & Global teams
  • Prepare launch updates for Senior Management presentations and launch performance tracking
  • Fulfil adhoc product / retailer sales analysis requests to accommodate for ongoing business needs

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • BA/BS degree required
  • 6+ years in global or operational marketing, preferably in beauty
  • International business experience a plus, specifically Asia
  • Superior oral, written communication and presentation skills required
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience managing min 1 person
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration competency, ability to move along the projects involving multiple functions and team members outside of the direct reportnig line
  • Experience working with different cultures - dynamic, flexible, collaborative, positive attitude, and great team spirit.
  • Experience working across time zones outside of regular working hours while effectively managing expectations of deliverables 
  • Strong organization, prioritization, timeline management and analytic skills with a proven ability to multi-task and manage complexity
  • Solution-oriented, self-motivated, results-oriented
  • Passionate about the cosmetics industry and spotting trends
  • Knowledge of competitive marketplace, digital, and in-store environment
  • Software expertise – Excel, PowerPoint, Word
