JOB SUMMARY

The Microbiology Lab Technician is responsible for media making, growth promotion, housekeeping and conducting experiments.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • ·You will properly use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling all samples and biohazard.
  • You will perform microbiological and stability testing of raw materials, bulk, finished products, samples, and prepares documentation per procedure.Testing methods include Microbial Enumeration and Specified Microorganism (MET) testing per USP 60, 61, 62.
  • You will be sampling and Microbiological testing of water per proper procedure.
  • You will perform Purified/Source Water testing per USP 1231.
  • You will perform environmental monitoring activity per procedure.
  • You will perform plate reads and incubations.
  • You will perform stock culture inventory and gram staining.
  • You will prepare culture media and performs growth promotion testing on media as per SOPs.
  • You will be washing glassware and general housekeeping and disinfection of lab area.
  • You will be maintaining laboratory inventory.
  • You will monitor/perform internal verification of pH meter, analytical balance, incubators, thermometers, autoclave, refrigerators, Biological Safety Cabinet, etc.
  • You will keep current with FDA, ISO, EU and cGMP standards and industry trends.
  • You will complete documentation of lab testing.
  • You will be engaged in the handling of biohazard.
  • You will ensure the interpretation of the data is correct and the results are effectively communicated to appropriate groups.
  • You will be writing/conducting investigations when necessary.
  • You will cross-train to ensure full functionality on all laboratory equipment and methods.
  • You will have Saturday hours to support manufacturing as needed.

WHO YOU ARE

  • You have an Associate degree or Certificate in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biology, Medical Technology, Life Sciences, or related disciplines is required (on the job training to be provided)
  • You have one year in a cGMP laboratory or manufacturing environment is helpful but not required.
  • You understand the importance of GMP and Quality
  • You have an ability to interpret problems and effectively prepare surrounding communication in a productive manner to management with clarity and accuracy.
  • You are organized and skilled in time management.
  • You have knowledge of Aseptic techniques. Previous lab experience is preferred.
  • You are an expert in Windows based computer programs (Word and Excel)
  • You are able to work with a team and have a willingness to learn.
  • You are able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skill

The hourly rate for this position may vary based on geographic location. Pay is based on several factors including knowledge, education, skills, and experience. In addition to base pay, we may offer additional forms of compensation as part of a total compensation package, including a discretionary annual bonus in addition to a full range of benefits.
