Senior Manager, US Marketing- Ulta (NARS)

Job Summary:

The Channel Marketing Senior Manager for Ulta, department and free standing stores develops and implements marketing strategies to build brand awareness and drive traffic in each channel to maximize growth potential, drive long term profitability and build brand equity. The Senior Manager will lead activations by leveraging global innovation and assets, analytics, consumer data, competitive research and retailer needs.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of marketing plans, sampling strategy, merchandising updates, promotional activities and product launches in the U.S Market.
  • Develop innovative marketing programs that leverage B&M, dotcom and digital platforms.
  • Partner with cross-functional partners, including Global Communications, Global Marketing, Product Development, Project Management, Forecasting, Education and Visual Merchandising/Creative to prioritize and gain support for retailer initiatives and exclusive offers.
  • Manage retailer relationships and advocate for specific needs to drive awareness and NARS penetration of customer base.
  • Manage visual merchandising creative direction, costing and budgeting, planogram approval, assortment creation and submission to retailers.
  • Submit and manage all creative and merchandising requests to ensure timely development of all marketing programs, merchandising updates and collateral materials.
  • Prepare, maintain and execute marketing calendars, sampling plans and merchandising budgets. Work closely with brand marketing, sales analysts and forecasting to analyze retailer exclusives and financial projections.
  • Analyze new launch and marketing program performance to deliver both quantitative and qualitative feedback to measure ROI for future enhancements.
  • Oversee meeting preparation including gather necessary information, creating agendas, leading meetings and managing follow ups.

Financial Accountability

  • Develop plans and programs in channels to support achieving retail and net sales plans.
  • Responsible for forecasting, tracking, actualizing and reconciling merchandising and sampling budgets.
  • Responsible for development of specialty programs and activations inclusive of COGS analysis and ROI.
  • Validation of Mix of Business projections and develop programs to achieve category penetration and growth target.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field is required.  An MBA is a plus.
  • 5+ years of marketing experience in cosmetics/beauty industry is required. Additionally, experience with social media is a plus.
  • A passionate, energetic team-oriented individual with strong analytical, interpersonal, creative and leadership skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency, while responding to fast paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Working knowledge of prestige beauty market with insights into beauty trends and pop culture.
  • Ability to ascertain product trends in competitive and dynamic beauty industry.
  • Passion for teaching and developing talent.
  • Strong oral, written, communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage details and multi-task projects.
  • Apply knowledge of competitive marketplace, online space, Sephora or department and specialty store retail environment to build open sell strategy.
  • Balanced approach between creativity and analytics when approaching projects.
  • Action oriented with aptitude to work independently and utilize sound judgment.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25% of time.
  • Critical expertise required in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Cognos.
