Job Summary: 

The Senior Manager will lead and develop global, regional, and USA data-driven insights that facilitate management decision-making on broad strategic as well as tactical day-to-day marketing and business issues. 

This role is part of the Shiseido Corporation Global Makeup Center of Excellence (MCOE) Marketing Intelligence team, which works with all of the prestige/luxury brands in the Shiseido Corporation portfolio.  Reports to Vice President of MCOE Marketing Intelligence, Elaine Sheng.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible to provide consulting for 5 brand marketing teams on topics such as: strategic portfolio issues, category growth trends, global trend analysis, competitive landscape, and market mapping. 
  • Lead, synthesize and present strategic and tactical actionable insights/opportunities from a wide variety of sources
  • Lead development of analysis with clear actionable insights and recommendations. Create analysis and visualizations of key insights using large data sources 
  • Scope and deliver primary research for 5 brand teams
  • Lead and manage variety of research projects, including global resarch
  • Manage a variety of research agencies
  • Manage the MCOE Marketing Intelligence budget
  • Work collaboratively across a matrixed organization

  • Tokyo headquarters Market Research Team and regional/brand research partners
  • Finance, Legal, Procurement teams

Financial Accountability 

  • Manage MCOE vendors’ budget

Qualifications & Competencies: 

  • 8+ years of relevant analytical experience, including: consumer insights analysis, trends development, primary market research experience, marketing strategy
  • 3+ years of experience working at a major consulting firm (as part of total years’ experience)
  • 3+ years of experience working with large teams in a matrixed organization
  • 2+ years managing a direct report
  • Experience working with global teams, a plus
  • Syndicated database reporting experience, prefer NPD, Beaute
  • Experience with digital marketing analytics
  • Extensive marketing category analysis, a plus
  • Experience developing primary research, a plus
  • Advanced business intelligence/visualization and computer literacy (Powerpoint, Excel, Tableau, Word, etc.)
  • Desk research and business analysis using syndicated research including Mintel, Euromonitor
  • Strong organizational and process management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize within a fast-paced, demanding environment
  • High level of initiative, resourcefulness, flexibility and comfort with change
  • Vendor management experience
