Manager, Product Development, MCOE

The Makeup Center of Excellence Product Development team works to enhance each brand’s performance by leveraging expertise and best practices within the portfolio while maintaining unique brand identity. This role will support the team through collaboration on key product development and packaging initiatives including creating presentations, coordinating, and sourcing. The Manager will support cross-brand corporate initiatives, providing brand support based on need and structure and assist in identifying trends and innovation. The manager will also support the technology initiatives owned by MCOE, working to assist the team with integration on a project-specific basis.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Corporate initiatives

  • Support product development initiated at a corporate level with a goal of enhancing innovation across brands and providing opportunities for accelerated speed-to-market. 
  • Serve as advisors to portfolio of brands and continue to build best practices across portfolio

Brand Support

  • Support brand-specific projects periodically and as needed to provide insight into innovation, product ideas and trends.
  • Attend tradeshows and assist with vetting innovations and presenting findings on an on-going basis.
  • Assist in combining master calendar for all brand launches, highlighting any potential rubs and escalating to management as necessary.
  • Support packaging development initiatives on a project-specific basis as needed. This will include note taking, organization of standards/range boards and samples.

Technology Innovation

  • Liaise with the technology teams (MatchCo & Giaran) to successfully develop products across the portfolio.

Working Relationships/Key Stakeholders:

  • Spans across multiple brands in the Shiseido Americas organization. Dependent on project, this position works across many disciplines including – R&D, Marketing, Product Development, Legal, NPD, Packaging Engineer and Design, Headquarters, and Procurement

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5 years of beauty product development experience
  • Possesses the aesthetic skill in texture and color
  • Ability to think strategically and tactically in different situations
  • Demonstrates strong creative thinking skills
  • Ability to be agile and shift priorities
  • Extensive experience in all color categories with strong knowledge of formulations including powders, emulsions, hot pours
  • Ability to detect nuances in formulations and describe them verbally and in writing.
  • Have knowledge of package development process.  Have familiarity of consumer facing technology and working knowledge of language and technical skills to communicate effectively as it applies translating physical color to digital color.
  • Strong work ethic with a strong efficiency orientation
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, resourceful, and able to juggle multiple projects at once 
  • Ability to work either independently or with cross-functional teams in a fast moving/changing environment
  • Shows initiative to drive results and solve problems 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to build, foster, and nurture strong relationships and gain the trust and respect of cross-functional teams’ stakeholders
  • Deep fluency and skill with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint.
