Job Description

The Marketing Manager, reporting to the Vice President, NARS International Marketing & Business Development, oversees NARS International Marketing for Asia (excluding China and Travel Retail). Responsibilities include calendars, launch strategies, media, distribution, pricing, forecasting support and VM planning; liaising with Regional partners to provide strategic direction. The Marketing Manager will be the day-to-day point of contact for the Asia Regions, both Hong Kong and Singapore offices. Through strong partnership and clear communication, the Marketing Manager will help ensure that business priorities are met and that markets have what they need to drive the business with strong 360˚ marketing activations. This position will also help ensure that markets follow brand guidelines locally to build global brand image consistency, strong brand equity and business results.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

NARS Asia Contact

  • Relationship management and day-to-day point person for Asia Regions, both Hong Kong and Singapore offices. With key markets Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Korea a focus
  • Manage artwork requests, e-retailer and brand.com requests

Launch Calendars

  • Define regional level launch calendars ensuring focus on both skin beauty (complexion) and lip categories
  • Communicate and align on launch timing globally
  • Collect and publish launch dates by market

Media

  • Create Media Guidelines in partnership with Integrated Communications and CDJ teams 
  • Send feedback to markets on media plans and requests

Creative

  • Approve event concepts and liaise with Global Marketing, VM & Creative on major events (i.e., Meccaland)
  • Inform Global asset creation: connect with Global teams to share Regional feedback to optimize the briefing and creation of assets
  • Local asset creation: review market’s proposal with Global team for concept approval and creative direction on mood boards or storyboards, talent, wardrobe and styling, photo direction of the assets and input on CDJ

Visual Merchandising

  • Serve as point of contact for any VM / SD queries
  • Brief market specific / bespoke unit requests
  • Update gondola configurations each season for open sell environments and tester unit displays

  • Maximize pure player business with differentiated plans per account (i.e., Naver and Kakao)
  • Optimize NARS.com in all key markets (assets, CRM, offers, process, etc.)
  • Define e-retailer plans and strategy

Forecasting

  • Oversee launch and POS forecast guidelines
  • Develops and publish launch forecast guidelines for all product launches, across all retail channels ensuring that markets have a full toolkit to support the forecasting process and appropriately dimension product launches 
  • Send formula samples and swatch boards to markets with forecast bulletin
  • Collect feedback on prospective launches and activations for Global Marketing

Pricing

  • Develop pricing strategy in partnership with Global Marketing
  • Perform pricing analysis on key categories / across key markets
  • Summarize and track pricing approvals – manage process and deadlines

Analysis

  • Collate and share launch recaps for key competitive launches
  • Inform product portfolio strategy by consolidating feedback on proposed launches, product discontinuations and sampling programs

Qualifications & Competencies: 

  • College degree, 5+ years’ experience in marketing, preferably in beauty
  • Experience in working with Asian markets preferred
  • Strong leadership ability and experience in working with different cultures - dynamic, flexible, collaborative, with a positive attitude
  • Ability to balance analytics with creativity, while being strategic
  • Attention to detail, a strong sense of urgency, ability to manage details and projects while responding to changing priorities and feedback
  • Strong oral, written, communication and presentation skills 
  • Knowledge of competitive marketplace, digital, and in-store environment
  • A passionate, energetic team-oriented individual with strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and utilize sound judgment
  • Software expertise – MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
