Manager, External Operations (Drunk Elephant)

Job Summary:

Manage the creation and timely execution of an achievable, efficient production schedule for a group of Contract Manufacturers (domestic and International) while maintaining lowest possible inventory levels and agreed upon service levels. Create and maintain purchase orders and other transactions in SAP.  Perform monthly or quarterly inventory reconciliations with assigned CM sites and ensure inventory accuracy.  Lead and Manage team to deliver business results.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Lead the supply planning to maintain service & inventory with contract manufacturers. Be the single point of contact for assigned CMs

• Manage relationship with strategic CM site through monthly CS&OP Process

• Manage and run MRP and own primary / secondary component ordering process

• Create and issue POs for procurement

• Manage Shiseido Owned inventory accuracy at external manufacturing sites

• Own daily management for service and inventory for their portfolio.  Work with OPD team to define the supply plan for launches

• Execute the defined service level agreement for CMs

• Manage assembly planning including creation and issuance of POs for assembly planning

• Provide leadership, motivation, direction, and support to the team members

• Develop members’ talents by involving in Drunk Elephant projects collaboratively and giving opportunities to learn know-how of CM external operations and planning

Working Relationships/Key Stakeholders:

• In conjunction with CMs and procurement, and in line with the global planning, define the run strategies for the various product types and class (e.g., ABC class)

• Develop and maintain relationship with external manufacturing plant.  Build rhythm and cadence with the site to enrich the relationship

• Develop strategy and process for change champion role within the external operations road map

• Define inventory policies to allow forecasts to be accurately translated into manufacturing production schedules in support of the defined run strategies and business objectives

• Interface with the CMs to ensure the implementation and use of the most efficient, cost-effective manufacturing strategies by product type

• Maintain low inventory report and daily service management for CM portfolios

• Maintain all planning parameters for CM portfolio.  Drive continuous improvement to optimize service and inventory

• Work with CMs to execute the SLA as per agreed strategies

• Work with CMs to define supply strategies as per the category

• Monitor capacity levels and implement strategies and proactive actions to address any gaps

• Track inventory levels of Finished goods, components, WIP and raw materials to ensure they stay within planned levels

• Monitor Excess and Obsolete inventory and drive Root Cause Problem Solving and action planning/execution to reduce E&O

• Work with Purchasing / suppliers and the CMs to ensure that component and production lead times are challenged and reduced to the lowest possible level in keeping with agreed distribution strategies

• Develop and monitor the use of appropriate KPI’s to measure and improve the effectiveness of the key elements of the planning organization

• Work with OPD/commercialization to define supply plan for new products launches.

• Execute assembly planning activities (assembly plan, POs) in partnership with the ADC

Financial Accountability:

Responsible for all planning activities to support a ~$60M annual spend and a brand with annual net sales projection $145M and potential for up to incremental growth over 2 years

Qualifications & Competencies:

• College Degree in relevant field or related job experience

• 6-8 years of experience in a supply planning role, ideally in a manufacturing or supplier environment in consumer goods industry

• And 3-5 years of experience working with an ERP/MRP environment at an advanced level

• Competent user of computerized IT systems – Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and other associated scheduling, forecasting software packages

• SAP experience a plus

• Thorough working knowledge of DRP and MPS processes in a Manufacturing or CM environment

• End to End Supply Chain Functions and Linkage

• In depth understanding of capacity management and production control concepts
