Manager, Cost Accounting

Job Summary: 

Full time Cost Accounting Manager responsible for standard costs, inventory valuation, variance analysis, and annual budget costs for the East Windsor Manufacturing Facility. 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain accurate item level standard costs by working cross functionally with the Manufacturing, Production, and Purchasing teams on operational rates and material prices loaded into our MAPICS system.
  • Responsible for final costing and transfer price creation for new products and reconciling to latest estimate.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of the local price book by working collaboratively with the transfer price teams in Regional and Global Headquarters.
  • Responsible for monthly closing activities including preparing journal entries for sales, cost of goods sold, tooling amortization, inventory in transit, and inventory accrual.
  • Responsible for calculating the monthly Excess and Obsolete financial impact by working with the Planning and Material Supply teams.
  • Responsible for creation of annual budget standard costs and year over year variance analysis. 
  • Responsible for monthly inventory reporting by item category at both gross and net inventory values.
  • Identify and implement process improvements in the Cost Accounting Function.
  • Participate in the design of the upcoming SAP Product Costing system by working with the implementation team members.
  • Participate in data cleansing from costing and accounting perspective as needed.                              
  • Participate in all phases of testing and cut-over for the SAP implementation.

Working Relationships/Key Stakeholders:

  • All East Windsor functional areas including Finance, Production Planning, Inventory Control, Quality Control, Manufacturing, Production, New Product Commercialization, and Material Supply.
  • Regional teams including Operations Finance, S&OP, Brand Finance, Procurement, Master Data Management, Transfer Pricing, Tax, Internal Audit.

Financial Accountability

  • Accuracy of monthly Sales and COGS in the P&L.
  • Accuracy of Excess and Obsolete as well as destruction expenses included in the monthly financial results.

Qualifications & Competencies: 

  • Strong Product Costing resource with the desire to make a positive impact on the systems and processes utilized within the East Windsor manufacturing site.  
  • Understanding of plant manufacturing and data tracking/collection processes including labor hours and material usage.
  • Experience in product cost planning, operational accounting, inventory controls, and material master set up. 
  • Results oriented, ability to roll up the sleeves and work on project outputs
  • Knowledge of managerial accounting including month end processes and variance analysis
  • High analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
