Sr. Mechanical Engineer, Research & Development (MatchCo)

We are looking for a hands-on entrepreneurial Research and Development Engineer  (Mechanical Engineering) to work with Software Engineering, QC, Manufacturing, and Shiseido Brands to develop novel manufacturing systems and point of sale dispensing systems.

This is a hands-on and technical role that has the potential to make significant contributions to the company’s mission and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 

  • Bring new mass customization manufacturing equipment and systems from ideation to industrialization
  • Bring new point of sale dispensing systems from ideation to commercialization
  • Ideate and rapid prototype design concepts
  • Assess new project requests including clearly defining project requirements and scope, researching prior work, and performing project risk analysis
  • Design electromechanical systems
  • Develop or leverage new processes for use in new manufacturing lines and fulfillment systems
  • Document your work in clear and concise technical reports as well as communicating your work to groups with less technical background
  • Design and build complex fluid delivery systems
  • Verifies designs against product and/or design requirements including execution of function testing and design analyses
  • Support manufacturing including the investigation into root cause of manufacturing defects and/or failures and recommendation and implementation of appropriate corrective actions
  • Become a subject matter expert on new and complex topics through literature review, experimentation, and working with others in the domain
  • Build and iterate on 3D designs
  • Analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting design
  • Create accurate Bill of Materials
  • Define equipment and parts for external suppliers
  • Oversee project workflow and support internal and external resources to ensure timely delivery of projects, expected quality, and within budget
  • Manage manufacture, build, and validation processes
  • Create SOPs and other internal-customer documentation

Qualifications & Competencies:                                                                                                                                                                                                               

  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering or related field + 4 years of experience in
  • research, product development, or engineering job function.  6 years of experience and
  • Bachelor's degree in related field in lieu of a Master's degree
  • 5+ years hands on experience building prototype devices, conducting testing and
  • documenting the development process required
  • 4+ years experience with CAD design tools
  • Experience in selecting and working with suppliers to develop custom assemblies preferred
  • Knowledge of various manufacturing technologies and their appropriate utilization
  • Demonstrable problem solving
  • Expert level knowledge of mechanical design
  • Critical thinking with exceptional problem-solving skills, able to work independently or in team environment
  • Deep knowledge of fluid delivery systems
  • Desired: 4+ years experience with PLC programming
  • Strong professional communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of peers
  • Willing and able to travel up to 10%
